Thousand Hills State Park 10.6.20

These are photos of Thousand Hills State Park taken Sunday, June 20, 2010.  We had planned to make the trip on Saturday, but that was the morning we found Elizabeth's big gray horse Versace had been struck by lightning the night before.  The trip was a good way to get our minds on other, happier things.  We did have a very good time.  :)

This is the view of the Point from inside the shelter at the top of the hill.

This is the view from the point's tip backward up the hill to the shelter.

This is the tip of the point to the left.

This is the center of the tip

This is the tip to the right of center

This the right of center

This is the entrance to the Amphitheater

This is the amphitheater taken from the entrance looking down.  There is electricity in the center aisle and on the back of the front wall.  Handicapped access is questionable because of the terraced steps, however they aren't too big, so they may work.  It is a fairly small area, I'm not sure how many it would hold.  Perhaps 130 or so.  It is shaded, quiet, out of the way, and mostly tree covered for a feeling of intimacy and privacy in the wilderness.

This is taken from center looking right.  There is a place for the bride to walk on the outside of the benches, but we'd have to tie a tree back to another to make it work.  At the center of this photo (R corner in the front) is a fire pit.

This is looking left from center.

This is from the front looking backwards.  Elizabeth is in the photo to give a sense of size.

This is from front center looking right.  There really is no place to walk here.
