Thoughts on dresses from Kansas trip - Christie

Its probably too early to post thoughts on the dresses but I am going to anyway. If it changes then I'll just post again. The 2 dresses I liked the most were at Mia's Bridal.

I re-posted the pics so people wont have to scroll down and I posted some pics I found of what they looked like in white.

This was the one I just loved to wear. (I had a glowy moment) It was in ivory though. I would want it in white (pic of that is below) It is an Unforgettable by Bonny #1010

Look at this! a beautiful train. I thought about it some and so far I think I am in love with the caught up bubble trains. The dress has a little bit of beading in the bodice and has a corset. The bodice was also had ruching - all plusses. There is one problem which I will address later.

This is a Maggie Sottero "Carrie". I think the lower waist makes me look a little longer. The front looks great. I love how unique it is. The pick ups aren't just straight across. I am a sucker for asymmetry. The front is just lovely. Below is what it looks like in white. It is about $60 less than the other one.

Sad thing - the back does nothing for me. :( gah!!! I am so in love with the bubble pick up train that this is just too plain. But the thing is, the Maggie is much more photogenic than the Unforgettable (which is the problem with the Unforgettable, that and the Maggie does look kinda better on me from the hips up. ) I wonder if there is a way to remodel it. I know that some said that the pick-ups in the front create enough in the back, but to me the back is lacking.

Here is the Unforgettable in white

gah!!!!!! I feel so torn! The Unforgettable was wonderful to wear. But I try to take into consideration when thinking about the dresses, that past that day the dress I wear will be seen in pictures more than me wearing it. Which is why I mentioned that the Maggie was more photogenic. I don't want to look at the pics in the future and think "I should have gotten that other dress". ... Sorry if it sounds ego centric. So far my best idea is to see if the Maggie could be altered. I'll sit on it and think more. No rushed decisions. Anyone else have ideas?

If your mom is going to make the dress, simply modify the Maggie idea and add the extra material into the train. At the very least, you could bubble the Maggie train at the bottom. You'll only lose a couple inches and it will give it depth that will make it feel richer.

Don't forget too, what it will look like standing next to Aaron. If there's too much, "stuff" next to your uber-tall beanpole fiance' (I can say that, right??!) it may look very mis-matched beyond the already obvious differences. You want to look beautiful WITH him, not just standing next to him. Less is often more.

I still like the Maggie the best. :) Especially if you bubble the bottom.

Oh yes, remember you are going to lose quite a bit from the front of the dress too. That pedestal was really high. At least 10 inches.

well bubbling the bottom wouldn't be an issue. because 4 to 6 intches is what is normally cut off for me.... so that extra instead of being cut off could turn into a bubble.

i would have to spend 2 to 3 months with her and CREATE a pattern... there is no pattern that really even comes CLOSE to the maggie. Not that i have seen anyway. and i have scoured. I'll look again. If there is goign to be ANY altering i have to pined and pricked.

Why don't you show her the photo and see what she thinks? She can always come back here early to make or alter the dress - couldn't she?

Another option is to have the exact dress you want made for you by someone else. This would be a fraction of the cost. I'm guessing around $250 or so going by those I know currently doing this.

oh i'll have her alter it, or any dress i end up getting... altering so close to the wedding wont stress me out as much as getting it made so close. kinda like to have a dress before then.

actually something to keep in mind if april, lizz and kendra get their bridesmaid's dresses at mia's then they will take 10% off my dress. that knocks about $70 off the dress.

though if i do end up with that one i might call the place in st. joe and see how much they would offer... or maybe that place in Iowa that carries maggie sottero

i reallly like these the most. And i am getting closer and closer to the maggie being the one... I would like to plan a date to go back to mia's and try both on and see. .... i am saying this so soon so i can work with people peoples adn try to get the days off to go.

i CAN't get the 16 -18th off or the weekend after that the 23rd through the 25th the available slots are already taken. .... i can't get sat off on either.

might be able to to get off earlier than the end of the month but it would have to be during the weekend which means kendra couldn't come.

... i need dates to look at to see if i could get off
